We will be building a root cellar. Learn to build earthen dome structures for emergency and sustainable living, building with materials that you are standing on. We will be building an arch and a very small dome made out of earth filled bags and plastering/sculpting the dome with an earthen plaster. Hands on and some Theory.

To build without cutting down a single tree; by using the earth under your feet and utilizing the elements of earth, wind, water and fire.
During the workshop there will also be a lecture on the the principle of the arch, designing earthbag houses, earthbag/ Superadobe basics, what soil to build with, vaulted roofing system, dome geometry, Compass theory and application, waterproofing, foundations etc..
In the earthen plaster workshop you will be learning about the basic covering plaster layer, a finishing smooth layer and some theory on earth plasters.

Paulina Wojciechowska, who is an architect and author of ‘Building with Earth, a guide to Flexible-Form earthbag construction’, has been studying, building and teaching natural building since 1996.
