On Saturday 26th November, an 8 feet high Tar Monster will roam the streets of Lewes to highlight local MP Norman Baker’s role in opposing action to cut the use of tar sands oil, which has been called the world’s most polluting transport fuel. Friends of the Earth, the UK Tar Sands Network, Climate Camp and other organisations have joined forces to lobby Mr Baker, who is responsible, as Transport Minister, for Government policy on the issue. He is opposing the inclusion of tar sands in EU climate change legislation and lobbying other EU overnments to do the same.
