At the last Sustainable Sussex meeting - The value of nature and the nature of value, Tony Whitbread of the Sussex Wildlife Trust drew attention to the opportunity we all have to contribute to the Government consultation for the Natural Environment White Paper - An invitation to shape the Nature of England.
He explained that this paper will look carefully at how the environment underpins our economy, health and well-being... and is so convinced that this could be a major turning point in how nature is valued that he asked that:
"If you plan to do only one thing for nature in the next decade then engagement with the White Paper should be that thing!
I agreed to communicate this to Transition Town Lewes Village Connections and to other Sussex transition people. I hope that this is OK and the right way to do it... It could be an interesting subject for local discussion?
Tony's SWT blog is well worth reading for a background to this

The DEFRA consultation can be found here
