Low Carbon Communities Challenge at Brambletye Inn

October 12, 2009 from 8pm to 10pm
The Low Carbon Communities Challenge is a two-year programme to provide financial and advisory support to 20 ‘test-bed’ communities that are seeking to cut carbon emissions, support inward investment and foster community leadership. It looks like a very exciting opportunity to draw down some significant funding for putting in place some nuts and bolts renewables/carbon reduction technologies. The Government is making £10 million available between the 20 successful applicants, and those…See More

About Me:
Lived and worked in FR since 1999. Worked on many local campaigns since that time, particularly as co-ordinator for Ashdown Friends of the Earth (2002 - 2005): Chairman of Sussex GM Forum in 2003 which secured Local Authority motion for GM Free Wealden; organised Ashdown FoE contribution to Big Ask Campaign which secured introduction of Climate Change Bill to parliament in November 2006. Elected Wealden District Councillor for FR in May 2007. My life is full of business, politics, environmental campaigning and music, especially singing around the Transition campfire!

Thanks to all who signed the Wealden Fights Back petition during October. The final signature count was 1731, and I delivered them to the Government Office for the South East in Guildford on Friday 24th October.
Now that this has been formally registered as a consultation response, policy officers in both Wealden District and East Sussex County Councils can refer to it as evidence in their efforts to defend our right to determine our own plans for North Wealden, rather than being forced by the Secretary of State to conform with something that Mid Sussex District Council wants to do in East Grinstead.

Hello David
We met three weeks ago (first at the Ashdown Forest Centre press event, then briefly by chance at the entrance to Jazz & Jive (is it?) coffee shop in Forest Row.
As I mentioned when I saw you, husband Graham and I are looking to move to Forest Row in the near future. I am looking for a job/ work in my area of expertise - editing, journalism, communications or PR hopefully within the environmental/ transition/ charities sectors. Do you have any ideas about connections I could make to find this position quickly and easily?
All the very best, Tonya Stewart
