Transition Forest Row

A community in transition to a low carbon, sustainable, resilient life.

Friends in Forest Row,

You might have heard about Forest Row Conservation Society, or Forest Row Forest Gardens.  Both are initiatives to increase biodiversity, community connectivity, and our wealth of natural resource in Forest Row.  In time, we see a canopy of interconnected green spaces in and around Forest Row, be it our gardens, alleyways, or purposefully designed forest gardens, all in a network that give and receive, seeds, saplings, trees, shrubs, herbs, vegetables, and fruits, perhaps even grain to each other, thereby enriching and empowering our community to a wealth of food and herbal medicine, for us to rely on as a self-sufficient community.
This is the impulse behind the edible hedge planting taking place this week, and the tree-planting this weekend on Sunday.
If you like the sound of this project come forward and join us.  We need hands to plant!  And what we plant is yours!
Mieke is planting an edible hedge from 9.30 - 4.30 on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday this week.  She provides a lovely hot meal for any helping hands.  If you'd like to help, please get in touch with her: mieke4fs@hotmail.com, tel: 82-2776.
We will also be planting some 20 to 30 fruit & nut trees this Sunday Dec. 4th from 10.00 till 1.00.  This is an opportunity to get our hands into the soil and meet other people in the community while planting trees and blessing the future harvests.  If you like to join us on Sunday get in touch with me and I will give you directions.  My e-mail is as above, my phone number: 82-6435.
We will also do a follow up Garden Day on Friday December 9th, 10 am onward at Emerson College.  We want to get our tree-nursery in shape and again appreciate helping hands.
And if you couldn't come to any of these 'hands-on' days, but would like to be part of our network, please contact me.  Our network will  really be made up, by you and me, joining up ... until we feel the buzz, in the gardens of Forest Row!
In gratitude,
pupak
