Stand by for the return of rationing

The Sunday Times today has a 1/2 page article in the business section about a report last week from the all party parliamentary group on peak oil and gas.

They recommend tradable personal energy quotas and it contains phrases such as 'we are running into danger. Energy shortages will occur.  We do not know when but the event is undoubted and it is not far distant.'

The tone of the article is that it will be pretty hard to introduce such things....

but awareness raising and mainstream media coverage is surely the first step.....

Tradeable Energy Quotas (TEQs), the brilliantly simple carbon rationing approach was developed by the late Dr. David Fleming with the support of ‘Transition Timeline’ author Shaun Chamberlin.

You can read more about the concept, download the report and view a video of Shaun explaining it at the launch here:

The idea is clearly one that has been around for some time and the article mentioned that it was first discussed in the house of lords back in 2004.... these things always take some time to get going.  I was aware of them but was surprised to see such coverage in the business section.  Thanks for the link!
